Helping Hands - 2025
In a small village in Tanzania, there is a knock on the door. A mother stands there with hope in her eyes. She has two children who would like to go to school, but her finances are not enough. For many families, the journey starts right here – with a desire for a safer and more sustainable future. That's when Helping Hands steps in.

Helping Hands was started by two young Norwegian students, Daniélla Rodrigues and Yvonne Helland, after a strong encounter with the reality in Tanzania. They were only 20 years old when they founded the organization in 2016. Since then, Helping Hands has helped children, young people and families through schooling, health measures and social follow-up – and just as importantly: given hope and tools to manage themselves.
Today, nearly 150 children receive support through the organization's sponsorship scheme and other welfare projects. The work is closely rooted in the local community and is led in Tanzania by Gladness, who, with her close knowledge of the local community, ensures that the help reaches those who need it most. Together with a team of local employees, she follows up with families, identifies needs and builds trust – stone by stone.
Helping Hands is not just about schooling. It is about building a future. The organization works long-term with initiatives in education, health, family follow-up and self-help – all with the goal of giving children and families the opportunity to stand on their own two feet and create lasting changes in their own lives.
The entire organization is run on a voluntary basis from Norway, and 100% of the funds raised go directly to the projects in Tanzania. Every single krone is used with care and respect – with a view to lasting impact, not just short-term help.
